You will practice safe and effective standing and mat exercises that form the pillars of bone-healthy movement. The exercises are designed to improve posture and balance, increase strength and flexibility, and reduce your risk for falls. You will need: a sturdy chair, a mat, hand-held weights, a resistance band, and pillows or towels to cushion your bones while on the mat. This is a 10-class series: Wednesdays 1:00 - 2:00pm; May 17 - July 26, 2023 (no class 5/31).
I recommend two sets of hand-held weights: a lighter set (1- to 3-pound -- soup cans work in a pinch), and a heavier set (3- to 8-pound), depending on your strength. Ankle weights (1-2 pound) are optional. I also like to have two different resistance bands: one with less resistance (easier to stretch) and one with more resistance.
